Artist Statement 

Using acrylics on canvas as his medium and the human figure as his primary subject, John "Jack" Thursby presents the viewer with a range of human emotions and personal reactions to the world around him. His work is essentially narrative and features the human figure. He chooses to paint on large canvases, and often chooses to present the finished work as a diptych or triptych.

Thursby is a former Professor of Art at Central Florida Community College in Ocala, Florida. He completed his undergraduate work at Syracuse University and the State University College of New York at New Paltz. His graduate and post-graduate work was done at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida. His work has won numerous awards, including Best of Show at the Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival and the Leesburg Art Festival in 2010.

You can find Thursby's work for sale during the festival. He will be set up on the North Side of Main Street at the 4th Street Intersection.
